After completing his two year traineeship with the firm and recently qualifying as an NQ, we spoke with Euan and asked him some questions about her experience so far at Gillespie Macandrew.
What were your first impressions of GM?
A really friendly and welcoming place to work!
What three words would you use to describe GM?
Friendly, vibrant and innovative
What is the best thing about working at GM?
The people! Despite the size of the firm it truly does feel like its own little community.
What has been the most challenging?
I think like many trainees across Scotland, it’s just getting used to the change in practice area every few months and how different teams in the firm do things. Just as you are getting the hang of one area of law and one team, you switch to another.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of applying?
Take some time to research the firm of course. However, most importantly be yourself and remember it’s not all about having that internship or being a first class student. Its clichéd but law is about people and it’s the experiences and knowledge you gain and have outside the classroom that form a large part of being a good lawyer.
