An update on OSCR
While the charity regulator OSCR’s Dundee office is closed, many of the staff are working from home and we are pleased to report that they continue to be very responsive to queries and applications for both reorganisations and new charities. OSCR has recognised the public need and has an expedited service for applications for new COVID-19 related charities.
OSCR has prepared COVID-19 guidance for charities in relation to their governance and finances during this difficult time. It also includes important updates on their own operating procedures during this time - details can be found here. In addition the SCVO has created a dedicated hub including useful resources for charities in navigating the challenges brought about by our current circumstances - you can view these materials by clicking here.
We would also encourage charities who will experience (or are currently experiencing) a significant loss of income to report this to OSCR through the notifiable event regime. Not only is it a sign of good governance, it also allows the regulator to feedback how the current crisis is affecting the sector to government.
