April 2021 pay rates
Statutory pay rates are set to increase again in April 2021. Businesses must ensure all workers are being paid the correct rates and increase pay where necessary from April 2021.
- National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates will be increased. The National Living Wage will now apply for workers aged 23 or older (previously 25 or older) and will increase from £8.72 to £8.91. An increase will apply across all National Minimum Wage bands including apprentices and the accommodation offset. Click here for link to the government announcement.
- Pay in respect of statutory maternity leave, paternity leave and shared parental leave, statutory adoption leave and statutory parental bereavement leave will rise to £151.97 per week (or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings if lower than the statutory rate) from 4 April 2021.
- On 6 April 2021, statutory sick pay will also increase from £95.85 to £96.35.
