Gillespie Macandrew has announced three significant senior appointments with the arrival of Partner Chris Devlin in Planning, Partner Douglas Roberts in Corporate, and Head of Finance, Nikki Robertson. The appointments take the firm’s partnership to a record 30 Partners and come as Gillespie Macandrew surpasses £20 million turnover for the first time.

Chris, an accredited specialist in Planning and Environmental Law, joins the firm’s specialist Planning team, further strengthening its commercial practice. He brings extensive experience advising on complex development, infrastructure, housing, renewables and public sector projects across Scotland.

Recognised as one of Scotland’s leading solicitors in employee ownership, Douglas advises employee-owned businesses on reorganisations, acquisitions and disposals, while also drawing on his extensive corporate law experience to support clients on mergers and acquisitions, equity investments and a broad range of strategic advisory matters.

Nikki, a CIMA-qualified finance leader, joins the firm’s Senior Management Team as Head of Finance, bringing expertise in financial planning and analysis, business partnering, governance, regulatory processes and Board-level reporting. She combines strong financial discipline and control with a practical, collaborative approach to supporting sustainable growth.

This result demonstrates the progress of the firm’s long-term strategy built around client experience, people, technology and its four core sectors.

Chief Executive Officer at Gillespie Macandrew, Gavin Merchant, said:

“Alongside these strategic senior hires, Gillespie Macandrew has continued to build strength from within, recently retaining eight trainees as newly qualified solicitors across our specialisms.

By nurturing talent, strengthening leadership capability and maintaining a commitment to social impact within our communities, the firm continues to position itself well to support the evolving needs of clients and deliver the high standards of service that define our firm”.
